Hey guys, This was my first year doing any public hunting and I did about average. Just wanted to see if you guys did any good on public land or elsewhere? I was mostly at lakes bardwell, lavon, and lewisville. Bardwell was the most successful but I stil never got a limit!

I talked to some duck hunters on lake Wright Patman during deer season about ducks. They said they did not do good on big ducks. They found some woodys in the timber. We had alot of rain here starting in October.Late in the deer season I started seeing mallards in the woods along the lake.Didn't see enough ducks to make me want to get out there though.Just to much water,to many places to lite.

We've thought about hunting at Lavon because we live near it but haven't been seeing too many.  How'd you do?

We didn't have much luck out there, talked to a few hunters who said we beat em to there spot and that we were at the place to be but only took about 10 there all season. The most ducks I saw in one hunt was about 20. It didnt seem like the place to be to me, however they did say that they always hunt there and its usually better than it was this year.

Lavon was covered up in ducks at the beginning of the season, smacked em good during early teal. Scouted the hell out of the lake. October rain came and I only hunted there one time out of a boat. Rain changed the game on that Lake for the entire season. BUMMER-

I wouldn't go around posting where did good or didn't in  public forum. Just make it that much harder on yourself in the future. Just my two cents. I will tell that when it got real cold and everything froze in North Texas we whacked the crap out of them for a week straight - all on public. I wish it would freeze like that more often, all the birds are forced to hang out on the reservoirs and it is killing time!
