Killed this year near Seymour, Texas on big water.  Cannot figure out what it is.  A hybrid is my best guess.  Won't say what.  Would like to hear someone else's opinion.

Looks more like a black duck to me. Teal would have grey legs, looks to be yellow legs in the pic.

How big is it? big or small duck?

Looks like a Pacific Black duck hen to me. Usually a little smaller than a mallard but known to hybridise with mallard. The hybrids usually have yellow legs and can be as large as you mallard.

Cheers

It is a big breasted duck although kind of compact like a widgeon.  The head looks a lot like a widgeon and the feet are grey.  The size is not as big as an atlantic black duck.  just not long enough and has a squatty rear end.

Thanks for everyone's insight.
