Caddo National grasslands by permit - deer and turkey. Some of the guys on this site have done pretty well out there

Hagerman National Wildlife Refuge - bowhunting by permit (outstanding non typicals but difficult to get in)

Lake Lavon and Lake Lewisville by permit - duck hunting

Fishing - numerous lakes.  Lake Fork, east of DFW west of Quitman, is one of the premier largemouth bass lakes in Texas.

Thanks David, That gives me an idea of where to start looking around. Bass fishin is high on my list and will likely move in March/April.

If you like catfishin and big crappie, lake Richland Chambers is one of the best. It is located east of Corsicana about 25 miles. We go as often as is possible.

Dallas county

Caddo National Grasslands is getting better every year. I've hunted it for the past 27 years now, when I first hunted it I seldom if ever saw deer or turkey. Over the past 5 years I hardly ever go out without see deer/turkey. The lakes there are good for duck hunting too. It's worth buying the Annual Hunting Permit to hunt there.
