Hi Everyone, I'll bet you keep waiting for me to give you a not-so-great fishing report, don't you? I'm sorry to disappoint you, but I just can't---not yet!!!! The past four weeks have been the best fishing of my life! (although, I think I might have said that last year, too...) The best clients, the best conditions and the most tailing redfish that I have experienced since last spring. As the fall wears on, I can't see things changing much. Weather is the most disrupting source of change, and it looks like there's a cold front coming mid-week, bringing temps down to the 50's. Nothing but another shot in the arm to make redfish get off their butts and keep feeding like there's no tomorrow! Every time the temp drops for a few nights in a row, the next three to five days (if the weather is decent) results in redfish takin' care of business! As we approach the full moon and another little cold snap, we have lots of good fishing to look forward to. Whether the water levels are low or high, there are fish taking advantage of the abundance of food in the back lakes and shallow marshes, feeding up for the upcoming winter. A shrimp migration, an unbelievable stock of finger mullet and crabs, crabs, crabs, make shallow water fishing this time of year the stuff of dreams. I've had more first-time fly casters catch their first reds on the fly in the past several weeks than all summer long. Get out of the deer stands and the duck blinds for just a couple of good days of legendary fishing on the Texas Coast, will you! I would feel bad if you missed fishing this fall! I worried that if I kept ending these unbelievable reports, you'd think this was just some "fishing guide hype" and not the real thing. If you've been reading my reports all year, then you know I'm not the "hype-type", and more like a "tell it like it is" kind of person! Fall fishing in Rockport has a reputation as being unbelievable. Some years it is, some years it isn't, but this year, it has been fantastic! I'm going to keep fishing until people stop calling for trips! I could sure use a vacation, but I can't think of anything better than this! Thanks everyone, for making my year so great! Take care, ya'll, hope to talk with you soon, Capt. Sally
