Did some bow hunting in Del Rio and Uvalde this weekend. Friday and Saturday were slow in Del Rio, saw a small 6 and two does. But nothing ready to be harvested. Then Saturday afternoon, and Sunday went on a cull hunt in Uvalde, man were the deer moving on Sunday. Saw a few monster bucks, and some huge Axis. Missed a 40yd shot on a 4pt whitetail that had been marked for harvesting, never saw any cull Axis. Hard to make a shot when you have 20 pair of eyes keeping a lookout for you, but it was a really good trip. Weather was great on Sunday. Had a scary moment when I walked up on a ut a 5ft rat snake. Practically pee'd my britches thinking it was a rattler. Quess it had just had dinner and wasn't in the mood to move or hide...just stayed on the road and let me walk right by after it had coiled up initially. Brrrrr..still gives me goose bumps....didn't know whether to shoot it for scaring me, or be thankful it wasn't Mr. Rattlebutt.... Anyways...just thought I would throw in my little experience this weekend. Still waiting to bag my first deer this season.
