Ducks Unlimited and Partners Move to Protect Wetlands in Supreme Court Case
MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The U.S. Supreme Court will hear a case in February that could dramatically affect the future of more than half the 100 million acres of wetlands remaining in the United States. Today, Ducks Unlimited joined other conservation organizations and two of the world’s largest outdoor gear retailers in filing an amicus brief addressing whether the Clean Water Act protects wetlands adjacent to small tributaries that flow into larger bodies of water.

Ducks Unlimited Inaugural DU National Volunteer Week
Ducks Unlimited (DU) is launc hing a week-long celebration to honor DU volunteers across the United States who make the organization’s conservation work possible. The inaugural DU National Volunteer Week will kick off January 30, 2006 with meetings and events across the country, then commence February 4, 2006 with volunteer appreciation parties.
Our volunteers are always so focused on accomplishing our conservation mission, we seldom stop to celebrate," says DU President, Jim Hulbert. "Our hope is that this week will provide our volunteers an opportunity to celebrate everything they’ve accomplished, including the millions of acres we’ve helped DU conserve."

Minnesota’s Frank Lake on the Road to Recovery Ducks Unlimited’s Living Lakes: Improving Minnesota’s shallow lakes one by one
BENSON, Minn. - Ducks Unlimited (DU) believes a temporary modification to the outlet of Minnesota’s Frank Lake will result in improved migration habitat. The modification will lower the water level of Frank Lake this winter to increase the likelihood of undesirable fish winterkill and enhance vegetation on which waterfowl feed.

New Paperback Offers Calming Influence on Retrievers
If it seems like today’s retrievers are becoming increasingly hyperactive and hard to train—they are, according to veteran dog-trainer Robert Milner, whose best-selling book, Retriever Training: A Back-to-Basics Approach, was just reissued in paperback by Ducks Unlimited.
"The typical Labrador retriever of 30 or 40 years ago was a gentle, calm dog,” says Milner. “Today a large number of Labradors are hyperactive and difficult to train. The basic reason for this shift appears to be our field-trial system."

Flour tortillas Seasoned, chopped duck 2 C. sliced onions 2 C. sliced peppers 1 clove chopped garlic 1 C. chile sauce 2 C. shredded lettuce 2 C. shredded cheese Sour cream 1. Cooked cubed duck breast. 2. Add diced onions, peppers and garlic to skillet with hot oil. Cook until lightly browned. 3. Add duck and green chile sauce to pan to warm. 4. Spoon sauce on tortilla. Add lettuce, cheese and wrap it up.
