The U.S. Sportsmen’s Alliance announced today a partnership with the Delta Waterfowl Foundation to increase outdoor education with current and future waterfowl hunters and inform them of the challenges to their hunting heritage.

Ken Garcia says he has been “poor man hunting” for nearly a half century; chasing mule deer across public land in New Mexico and hunting whitetails in Texas on small leases or by invitation from friends. Not this year.

Things are looking up for the endangered whooping crane. The bird made news two years ago when a record number of crane deaths were reported during drought conditions on the Texas coast. But according to state and federal biologists, flock numbers have rebounded, and a new record high number of cranes should start arriving on the Texas coast later this month.

The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department established youth-only seasons to pass the hunting heritage on to the next generation of hunters, make lasting memories and to give kids the first shots.

The sportfishing community thanks Senator Blanche Lincoln (D-AR) for introducing S.3850 , legislation which seeks to prevent an overarching federal ban on lead in recreational fishing tackle; a move that could have a significant economic impact on anglers and the recreational fishing industry.

Texas -

The National Wildlife Refuge System (NWRS) continues to increase hunting and fishing opportunities for sportsmen across the country.  The newest openings are the latest in a long line as the result of major legislation backed by the U.S. Sportsmen’s Alliance over a decade ago.

Break out your hunting “bucket list” and enter the Big Time Texas Hunts for a chance to check something off. The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department is reminding Texas hunters the deadline to enter this year’s Big Time Texas Hunts is Oct. 15. Winners will be called before the end of October to give them time to make their hunting trip preparations.
