Axis Buck

Axis Buck
Summary:

Shot this free-range Axis last Monday night south of Junction.  His horns were about 31" long and he was one old coot, to the point where his coat was turning lighter.

Wish I had some better pictures but it was raining/misting and the wind was up.

Moment of Truth

Moment of Truth
Summary:

This is a real interesting picture.  At first it looks like two birds flying together

Trapped pigs

Trapped pigs
Summary:

Got these three Christmas day near Lockhart.  100, 100, and 95 pounds.  I didn't need the meat, and had even less interest in cleaning them, so gave them away to a coworker.  He was happy to get them, and I might be getting a duck hunt in return soon.

The extra fencing material over the door is to keep my miniature Herefords out.  They like soured corn as much as the pigs do, and were tearing the trap up when they got in.  Now, pigs still walk in, but the cows have given up.

The Duck and the Eagles

The Duck and the Eagles
Summary:

I don’t have a clue who actually took these, but all the same that duck should get a medal for heroism under enemy fire.  The fellow sitting on the tailgate of his pickup truck never realized the show he was about to miss.

Teal Wraps

Teal Wraps
Summary:

This is a platter of teal wraps we prepared over the weekend fresh! I used a habanero and gold tequila glaze from my website at www.texasgourmet.com

What's In The Box?

What's In The Box?
Summary:

I got this in the mail yesterday.  What could be in the box?  Are those wings?  Maybe a duck carving?  God I hope not.

Guys in camo shoot better!

Guys in camo shoot better!
Summary: We all piled up in the trucks for a snow goose hunt in Eagle Lake, Tx. Well, you can tell who shoots better by the number of birds each hunter is holding. My friend Craig Courson (in camo on the left) and myself (in camo on the right) put on a shooting clinic for our hosts during the hunt.

Eagle Lake Snow Goose Hunt

Eagle Lake Snow Goose Hunt
Summary: I wasn't really a fan of huntin' snows until we hooked up with a "friend of a friend" type of invite. The birds were decoying in closer than we expected and it was raining geese!

Oh!! Doe

Oh!! Doe
