Now in its fourth year, the National Conservation Leadership Institute (NCLI) in Washington D.C. offers unique advanced-training opportunities for gifted professionals envisioning and shaping the future of America's outdoors. More than 100 selectees have attended so far, representing conservation agencies and organizations nationwide.

Today in a joint press conference held on Roosevelt Island, on the Potomac River just outside of the nation's capital, Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar and Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack announced the formation of the Wildlife & Hunting Heritage Conservation Council which will serve as the advisory committee to the administration to advise on policy affecting every hunter in America. Safari Club International was present for the announcement and will seek to play a significant role on the newly formed Federal Advisory Council.

Member organizations of the Cooperative Alliance for Refuge Enhancement (C.A.R.E), including the Congressional Sportsmen's Foundation (CSF), reaffirmed their commitment to the National Wildlife Refuge System today in a meeting at the U.S. Department of Interior (DOI).

The 621 Pheasants Forever chapters, 103 Quail Forever chapters and 125,000 members of "The Habitat Organization" nationwide completed over 22,000 wildlife habitat projects in 2009, benefitting over 500,000 acres for pheasants, quail and other wildlife. This includes over 8,300 acres of land acquired and then opened to public hunting and recreation as state-managed wildlife areas or federal Waterfowl Production Areas.

Three new members began terms on the Congressional Sportsmen's Foundation's (CSF) Board of Directors January 1. New members of the CSF Board are: Tommy Millner of Cabela's, Steve Sanetti of National Shooting Sports Foundation, and Brad Franklin of Yamaha Motor Corporation USA.

A celebration of conservation, hunting and extraordinary big game trophies is set for June 24-26, 2010, in Reno, Nevada. Hosted by the Boone and Crockett Club, the event is a free public exhibition of world-class antlers, horns and mounted specimens from across North America.
