Summary: Spring Turkey Season! It’s like Hunter’s New Year! Getting the drop on some spring thunder chickens after winter’s thaw is how many hunters across the country ring in their New Year in the outdoors. It gets a hunter’s blood pumping again; out there in the crisp, cool mornings. Of course it...
Puppy DaysSummary: Your dog would die for you. You would not do the same for him -Quote from my good friend CB I swore I’d never have another dog. Forget the bird dog, German Shorthaired Pointer thing. Just no dog. Not after Nikko. And that was almost twenty years ago. Even though every year the girls alwa...
Outdoor Resolutions for the New Year
Summary:
About this time each year, many of us that enjoy spending time on the water fishing or in the field or woods hunting decide we need to make a few changes in the way we operate. The concept is simple; begin your shotgun swing behind the bird or clay target, push the barrel past the moving target so that the shot column and target arrive at the same place at the same time. Sounds easy, doesn’t it? My free duck hunt.Summary: First off I want to thank Duckwhacker, Wingdinger, DoubleTHunter and the rest of the guys for making me feel welcome at their hunt. These guys are the epitome of 'Southern Hospitality' I got to the front gate of their lease at around 4:00pm Thursday afternoon. I made my first blunder by calling Bo...
Life is good. Hunting is a gift.
Summary: We all hear a lot about global climate change, posted land, habitat encroachment, and other trends that threaten hunting. In fact, it may be true - we may land fewer fish, bag fewer birds, or take trophy animals less often these days. Despite all that, hunting, as I think of it, is alive ...
Managing Whitetails in the 21st Century, Part II: What Is Happening To Our Deer?Summary: BY DR. JAMES C. KROLL May/June 2004 Issue of Texas Deer Association Tracks Author's Note: My wife and I were in the middle of a cemetery near San Antonio placing a stone at her younger brother's grave when my cell phone interrupted our work.
