Search Results:The RiverSummary: Hunting on the Trinity river my entire life I have learned to hunt throuh some difficult times and situations. It is amazing how things and places can change so drastically in a few years. I can remember being a young boy and Dad picking me up from school on a Friday evening. We would head home ...
Late Season Ducks a Challenge
Summary:
This morning, I was sharing the blind with a great wingshot who I had watched on many previous hunts make some astounding shots. Between the two of us, we strapped a total of 4 ducks today. Granted, we both missed a couple of shots that should have been made, but that always seems to be the case. The morning was foggy with just enough wind to keep the decoys moving, pretty close to perfect conditions for duck hunting. They were plenty of birds in the air, especially within the first hour of shooting time. RFA John P. (Jack) Cowan BanquetSummary: Jason: As a long-time friend of Jack Cowan, wildlife artist 'extraordinaire', I want to compliment and thank you for your excellent website that you have furnished to the upcoming banquet which will honor Jack. Providing Land Managers with Options for Wetland Construction and ManagementSummary: In another life, I spent considerable time chasing migratory game birds in the High Plains ecoregion of Texas. A person either has a passion for hunting waterfowl, or must be a little crazy to break ice, while setting out a spread of decoys on a playa lake. I remember days, where I literally s...
My Father/Son Bickering Hunt
Summary: Two years ago, I had my leg in a cast for most of hunting season, but I continued to hunt as much as I could. I especially kept duck hunting. I would wrap my cast in plastic garbage bags and duck tape it so that I could walk on the mud. I could not wear waders though, so I had to rely on a partner ...

The point of this program was to honor 24 soldiers who had recently returned from Afghanistan or Iraq an...
Last Duck Hunt of 2007
Summary: This past weekend I went duck hunting Friday through Sunday, and for the first time this season, I had to hunt alone. My normal hunting partners are younger than me, and it just so happens that both of them chose to chase "wimmen" instead of go out and whack some ducks. Although I don't like to hun...
