Summary: Spring Turkey Season! It’s like Hunter’s New Year! Getting the drop on some spring thunder chickens after winter’s thaw is how many hunters across the country ring in their New Year in the outdoors. It gets a hunter’s blood pumping again; out there in the crisp, cool mornings. Of course it...
Alone in the Outdoors
Summary:
I’m making plans to head back home this evening after spending a couple days hunting wild hogs and deer on a 4,500 acre piece of outdoor paradise situated along a 4 mile stretch of the Brazos River. No big bucks or ‘good eating’ wild hogs were harvested so far on this outing, nor is there the normal campfire banter with friends. Circumstanced dictate that I hunt alone this time and, the experience is one I highly recommend, at least occasionally, for everyone that loves spending time in the outdoors. There’s something very satisfying about being self sufficient in an environment that has the very real potential to be unforgiving. Critical Issues Facing Texas Parks & Wildlife Funding
Summary: It is rare to have 35+ organizations, representing every aspect of the Texas Outdoors, share a common voice. However, with critical funding issues facing Texas Parks & Wildlife, what better reason to unite? Millions of hunters, anglers, landowners, and others who have a strong interest in sustaini...
Life is good. Hunting is a gift.
Summary: We all hear a lot about global climate change, posted land, habitat encroachment, and other trends that threaten hunting. In fact, it may be true - we may land fewer fish, bag fewer birds, or take trophy animals less often these days. Despite all that, hunting, as I think of it, is alive ...

I head out from my undisclosed bunker somewhe...

South Texas Turkey Adventures
Summary: SOUTH TEXAS TURKEY ADVENTURES By Wendy White I’m simply amazed at the vast amount of hunters who get absolutely silly about opening day of Rio Grande Turkey season. It’s not the same as opening day for deer, it’s more electric. Yea, electric is a good description. I, myself have never been as enth...
Bobby's First Deer (and his sisters - almost)
Summary: In the fall of '98, I lived in Plano, Texas, and my daughter Patricia was 9, and my son Bobby was 7. I had been reading up on TPWD, and saw where they had a progam with some special draw hunts in a state park in the Paris area. As I remember the program, it was set up to give each child drawn 100 a...
