Overview:

To find the big bulls you must go where the big bulls live long enough to get that way. You need to access miles upon miles of wilderness and get in the middle of it, then work your way out. You will soon find bulls that average larger scoring racks and an average increase. If they can’t see their 7th birthday I can’t see you wasting your time shooting them.

We focus primarily on elk but of course run into an occasional deer and the chances are good he will be a big one. The reason is he to will also be older than the average deer that you will see that is closer access to hunters.

We do take moose hunters also which the GMU 171 is a prime since it is where these elk began.  I was hunting it back before they even put the moose in here. For a number of years I took the best moose of the year in the outfitters association. Need I say more?

In 2010 this outfitter ran an unbelievable hunter success rate for the harvest of bulls and cows together 97%. He and his guides put their hunter on elk and they took over 114 elk. That is a lot of ivory!

Keep in mind buck or bull fever hits everyone and the easy shot at an elk is missed. In most cases they put their hunters on a second or 3rd elk to get the job done. In 15 years I have never see such a success rate that is why this hunt books up so quickly.  Early booking is the only way to assure that you have a spot for this fall, spaces are quickly filling up at this time many from hunters that left a deposit for 2011 when the went home with their 2010 elk. Others told their friend about the hunt and they quickly booked 2011 together so they could hunt together on the once in a life time hunt. A Limited number of cow tags also are available. This is to hunt beginning august 15th until December 31 on a voucher system. These hunts are 5 days with lodging and meals in town about 15 miles away. This will be "low impact hunting” with 100% success at this time for this year and last. Much of it is lying on the top of haystacks and shooting the cows as they come into the alfalfa field. Or truck driving spot and stalk glassing. The cost of this 5 day guided hunt is only $995 as long as the supply lasts. This huntsman not be available next year so this is the chance of a lifetime to hunt elk successfully with a rifle for the duration of many months. The hunt area is southern Colorado. Our Ranch (640 acres) is located 7 miles southeast of Meeker, Colorado, (area 23), in the foothills below White River National Forest.  This is prime hunting for mule deer & elk, as it boasts a mixture of terrain that provide the animals with food, water, and plenty of cover. The foliage consists of scrub oak, open grass parks, sage, cedar, and a wide variety of berry trees. The land has a small creek drawing many different types of wildlife, as well as the game. Also found within the boundaries, natural material blinds, posted in 7 areas of different terrain. Each hunting area has been successful in the family for generations.

The Bunkhouse boasts a large living area for up to 6 lodgers.  The living Quarters Are Comfortably heated by a wall mounted propane furnace and Satellite TV. The bathroom recently remodeled, has a standing shower, and an extra large sink. With a 50 gallon hot water tank, you'll feel almost at home.

This ranch in Cherokee County Texas is a high fence facility covering the private 206 acres of heavy brush with planted plantation pines in an area with hills and valleys that vary in elevation by more than 250'. Shooting lanes have been cut with food plots and 6 corn feeders at 6 elevated box stands.  Hunts are with rifle, bow, crossbow or muzzleloader it is your weapon of choice. It is recommended that you bring binoculars but not required.

 We have trail cameras on all corn feeders 7 days per week so we know what is in the thick area for big bucks.
