Dec 9: Well its Sunday night and its time for the weekly outdoor report. I got my boat back from Busha Boat Works on Friday. I am happy to report that Ryman did a great job repairing everything. Thanks again to Joel with UltraCat Boats for coming down and helping repair the boat. We hit the water this morning and we thought we would need to hide from the wind but to our surprise the water was calm. We started drifting the river with no luck so we made a run to West Bay. We stuck our nose out of the diversion canal and found the water to be fairly calm. Since we were short on time we headed for the Shell Island area. After a long drift we found some fish. Working that area for a few more drifts produced 4 keeper trout to 20” and a couple of handfuls of throw backs. We left there and headed back on the way we spotted some birds where we picked up a few sand trout for fun. All fish were caught on Texas Assassins Glow/Chartreuse tail. Fishing here has been great and there are large trout being caught in East Bay and that should continue for a while. The night fishing has been good and will only get better. Like I said in last weeks post Red Sled Too should be ready to sea trial by next week. We have plans for a beaming 4000 watts of light. Should make for some great wintertime night fishing. I have open days and nights available so call to reserve your date today. Also I have asked Santa for a new Pentax waterproof camera so I can provide pictures. I really have been a good boy this year so I think I am good. Don’t forget you Kayak guys we can provide you taxi services throughout the Matagorda Bay Area. Hunting Report: Things are finally starting to look up. The snows are starting to arrive and larger numbers of ducks have been seen. Things are heating up and the weather looks like it might help us out with some colder air. If we can just mother nature to push that North Texas air down here it will be on. On a personal note one of my good friends is expecting a baby girl any day now. So we are praying for a healthy bouncy baby. Until next week, Shoot straight, Keep a tight line, and as always introduce a kid to the outdoors.
