North Texas Duck Hunting

I got turned on to Duck Hunting last year, and I must say, although I had a great time, I was relatively unsuccesful.  Some mornings I only got one or two shots off.  I have been hiking in to the far north end of Lake Lavon.  I have been wading 50-100 yards offshore (still 2-3 feet deep) and randomly placing out 12 decoys.  I lean up against a tree or take cover in some brush.  I have no dog (not one that will sit still in a blind), no boat, and know of no other place to go where I can wade after my own birds.  Any suggestions?

And, I don't want to/can't pay for an outfitted hunt.

I hate to say it Lavon suck's I hunted it 8-9 years ago and swore I would never go back. TO much hunting pressure, sky blastin and butthead's.

Look at Lake Tawakoni(type II) or local water supply lake's close to where you are, get a map and go knock on some doors. Remember all you have ever lost is a NO.

Good Luck-

Palo Pinto county

There are some pretty good small lakes and ponds in Collin County and Grayson County where you can even coax in some geese. Lavon sucked 10 years ago.

Keep yer eyes peeled!

Wondering about duck hunting Hubbard Creek, Millers Creek or anything else free around Palo Pinto. I currently hunt Possum Kingdom. Any knowledge or experience would be greatly appreciated.
